OK, I admit to being a technology nut. I love all the gadgets and networks including iPads, iPods, Android phones, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google circles, Twitter, Pinterest, email and the like. I connect with people using these, enjoy seeing what others are up to, learn about our world and the people in it and more.

Today, I was using Facebook and reading a conversation that took place between a friend of mine and her neighbor. They live across the street from each other, in a rather isolated section of England. Earlier she emailed me a picture of the urn that was delivered to her home yesterday. The urn contained the ashes of her husband of 50 years. I could almost feel her sadness as she clicked “send” on her computer that day. Sharing the picture and the accompanying paragraphs of pain helped her to feel less alone. Email helps her keep in touch with family and with me, as I support her a bit on a road I know too well.
