Muskie anglers waiting for better fall fishing

By George Langley

As we slip ever further toward winter, the fall fishing on North Woods lakes is proceeding in vastly different directions. The walleye fishing has been spectacular, but the muskie fishing has been slow in developing for some reason.

Water temperatures are now down in the 40s pretty much everywhere and a mid-level warming spell won’t change anything. This is much different from last fall, when we had one warm spell after another throughout the whole fall period.
