Betty Buell, a resident of Phelps for most of her life, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at Eagle River Memorial Hospital in Eagle River. She was 82.

Mrs. Buell was born Jan. 3, 1930, in Flat River, Mo., the daughter of Thomas and Ida Mae Hogenmiller. 

She moved to Phelps at a very early age and attended  school there, graduating from Phelps High School in 1947.   She married Lowell Buell Oct. 7, 1950.

Mrs. Buell worked as a bookkeeper for C.M. Christiansen, the Phelps Co-Op and the Phelps School. Her hobbies included baking, cooking and reading.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2003; a son, Kenneth in 2011; one brother, Harold Hogenmiller;  one grandson, Peto Buell in 2010; one great-granddaughter, Alexis; and one son-in-law, Dennis Christensen.

Survivors include three daughters, Debra (Jim) Thomson, Denise Christensen and Dee Dee (Allan) Sorensen, all of Phelps; her son, Kirk Buell of Phelps; two brothers, Alvin (Rita) Hogenmiller of Conover and James Hogenmiller of Waukesha; two sisters, Ila Mae Manning of Waukesha and Judy (Ralph) Nocerini of Phelps; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Phelps School.
