The end of a cycle

By Mary Friedel-Hunt

I see 2012 creeping toward its end and ask myself what happened that this year is ending so quickly? I see the snow fall today — our first — and as I drove through it, wet as it was, I looked ahead and saw winter racing toward me with its weapons of wind and ice and its beauty of gentle snowfalls. A cycle comes to an end with winter.

We watched the trees bud out last spring, saw the fullness of summer, the harvest with all its colors and foods, and finally winter is arriving with invitations to light our fires, heat up our teapots, bring out our books and curl up for the months ahead.
