School celebrates Veterans Day

St. Germain Elementary School students celebrated Veterans Day last Friday with special programs and guest speakers. Members of Boy Scout Troop 645, Nicholas Lofy, Tanner Kiesow, Brandon Messner and Tyler Steinke, presented the flags and led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Kindergarten through second grade students walked to the Veteran’s Memorial Wall located near the intersection of highways 70 and 155.

Students also learned the significance of the flags that are part of the commemorative display and that the names on the bricks in the wall represent people who served in the military.

Students in third through fifth-grade listened to a presentation by U.S. Marine Corps veteran Mark Rose, who served from 1984-1986. Rose gave a presentation about his tour of duty and the sacrifices of service men and women who serve in the military.
