Vilas County Sheriff

A total of 242 complaints were entered by Vilas County Sheriff’s Department dispatchers last week.

In addition to those with sufficient detail to report be­low, a review shows at least 20 vehicle accidents, five animal problems, six requests for agency assistance, three at­tempts to locate, six burglar alarms, eight requests for citizen assistance, one report of criminal damage to property,  three re­ports of hazardous conditions, four juvenile problems/runaways, three hit-and-runs, one report of lost property, six reports of suspicious circumstances, one theft, one threat, 13 traffic violations, one vacation check, five welfare checks, 17 911 hang-ups, six drug problems, two reports of operating while intoxicated and two ATV?problems.

At least six calls were re­ferred to the Eagle River Police De­partment and there were at least 12 informational or procedural entries.

In the past week, at least 10 people were booked at the Vilas County Jail, including five for probation violation, one for battery, two for operating while intoxicated and one for burglary.

During the week, the in­mate population ranged from 61 to 75. As of Dec. 4, there were 75 inmates.

 

Tuesday, Nov. 27

- 3:58 p.m. - A one-vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of Townline Road and Alder Lake Road in Boulder Junction involving Joshua A. Waszak of Mercer.

- 1:00 a.m. - A?hit-and-run accident was reported in the parking lot of 5509 Highway M in Boulder Junction, where an unknown vehicle struck a vehicle owned by Edward Osep of Presque Isle.

 

Eagle River Police

Among the calls received by Vilas County dispatchers were at least 23 calls for the Eagle River Police. These in­cluded two 911 hang-ups, five vehicle accidents, one burglar alarm, two animal problems, two business problems, two requests for citizen assistance, one harassment complaint, one Lifeline alarm, one report of obstructing police, one runaway juvenile, one request to remove subject, one report of a hazard and two traffic violations.

 

Three Lakes Police

This police department re­ported two 911 hang-ups, one vehicle accident, one hit-and-run, two requests for an ambulance, one request for an extra patrol, one welfare check, two informational entries, one instance of reckless driving, one scam, one service, one suspicious circumstance and three traffic stops.
