Election costs of $6 billion could have been better spent PDF Print E-mail

Dear Editor:

Six billion dollars for what?

Now that the presidential election is over, it is time to reflect on the massive amount of monies spent, largely by big corporations and wealthy people. For what??To promote lies and deception?

If that money could have been spent to turn this economy around, what a difference it could have made!

Supplies for education, money for science and health research, money for infrastructure improvements, roads, bridges, new developments, defense research and development, to name a few.

It would have meant jobs, jobs, jobs. People could buy staples, a new or used car, move into a different home, put money aside for their children’s education.

Then you would see our economy expand with companies hiring more people and putting money into new jobs.

Oh yeah, our unemployment numbers would drop dramatically.

Six billion dollars!?For what?

Tim,

Here’s a couple of Saturday Night Live skits lampooning economic stimulus programs that some of the smartest people in government today actively promote and even spend millions of tax dollars to advertise.

The actors look like dead-ringers for the clowns they’re portraying, don’t they? The one in the red robin costume cracks me up. And look at how Georgie boy keeps himself from laughing – priceless!

By the way, due to technical difficulties, here’s the part I accidentally left out from the broadcasts:

Gosh Tim, what a concept!
Now we can view the democratic process as one big stimulus program. Very creative.

You do realize that the 6 billion was spent on things OTHER than what you like. People had jobs because of it. The paper industry was helped. TV stations recieved money for their employees. The list goes on.

A waste of money? Not really when you think about it.
