Hunters register 243,739 deer

A preliminary tally indicates that 243,739 deer were registered by gun deer hunters during the nine-day deer hunt Nov. 17-26, according to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

A total of 633,460 purchased license for the state’s most popular hunt.

“It’s great to see the level of hunter participation that we do in Wisconsin, and equally as great to see that more hunters had success than last year,” said Kevin Wallenfang, big game ecologist for the DNR.
