| DOT reports fewer deaths on state roads in November |

Wisconsin saw the fewest traffic deaths during any November in the last 67 years, according to preliminary statistics from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT). The state had 36 traffic fatalities in 33 crashes last month. The deadliest November occurred in 1973 with 110 traffic deaths. Traffic fatalities last month were 16 fewer than November 2011 and 13 fewer than the five-year average for the month of November. Four people died in crashes during the Thanksgiving holiday travel period from 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, to midnight Sunday, Nov. 25. |
