A communications tower on Vilas County forest land leased to American Transmission Company (ATC) was discussed at a joint meeting of the county Forestry & Land and Communication committees last week, with supervisors deciding to stay with the current lease that expires in 2024.

The county leased about three acres to ATC near Snipe Lake in 1999 for 25 years and ATC erected a 500- foot tower which AT&T Inc. is the tenant for cell phone communication.
