Tri-County Council spreads peace message PDF Print E-mail

Dear Editor:

In many cultures around the world during the holidays, blue lights or the color blue signify “peace.”

We love the concept of sharing peace during the holidays because throughout the year, much of our work involves people who are struggling to find peace in their lives, in their homes, and in their relationships.

Tri-County Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault invites you to help raise awareness and spread the message of peace this holiday season by participating in their Blue Christmas fundraiser.

Blue lights are gaining popularity during the holidays, even though people may not know what they signify. We hope that more people will display blue lights as a symbol of peace in our community.

By making a $50 donation to Tri-County Council, you can help support the work of the agency and help to raise awareness. They will thank you with a string of 120 blue lights to put up at your home or on your Christmas tree.

When you make a $100 donation to Tri-County Council, not only are you supporting their work throughout the year, but you will receive a beautiful blue fleece scarf with the word “Peace” monogrammed on the front. There are a limited number of scarves available, call the office for more information.

Tri-County Council works to end violence and help people to find peace in their lives, not only during the holidays, but all through the year. By making people aware of the need for peace in our homes we help support those who do not experience peace in their homes, who are living in angry or violent situations.

The council welcomes the public to stop in at the office any day during December, Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to share hot cider and cookies and to pick up your gift with a donation.

We also have a “Fudge Fundraiser from Fun Factory” for delivery before Christmas. Please call the office for more details or questions at (715) 362-6841 or 1-(800) 236-1222.
