Eleanor Mains, 90, of Eagle River, Wis., formerly of Burlington, Ill., passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012.

She was born on July 29, 1922, in Elgin, the daughter of William and Amanda (Brammer) Rakow.

Eleanor graduated from Elgin High School and had worked at David C. Cook Publishing for many years prior to her retirement. She loved Eagle River, Wis., and fishing in Lake Vermilion, Minn.

She was a member of the Burlington United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her four children, Teri (Harlan) Cork of Orr, Minn., Penny (Mike) Otte of Eagle River, John (Pam) Mains of North Aurora, Ill., and Joel (Kathi Hurst) Mains of Crystal Lake, Ill.

Further survived by 15 grandchildren, Kelly (Mike) Kissel, Melissa (Mike) Crea­don, Kevin (Cori Peterson) Corki, Lauri (Sean) Hamilton, Jennifer (Wade) Sunderlage, Jennifer (Larry) Creadon, James (Melissa) Otte, Chris (Erin) Mains, Nicole (JR) Szoke, Ramie (Mike) Mundy, Stacie (Jason) Ness, Emily Mains, Ryan (Danielle) Mains, Cassi Hardy and Katie Tracy; 28 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andrew “Andy” Mains, whom she married on Nov. 23, 1942, and passed on Aug. 31, 1995; her brothers, Melvin (Daisy), Donald (June) and William (Roberta) Rakow; her sister, Ruth (Harold) Bedwell; and a grandchild, Caitlin Weese.

Funeral services were held Dec. 31, 2012, at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial followed at River Hills Cemetery, Batavia, Ill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Pink Heals Tour/Guardians of the Ribbon, 510 N. 44th St. L-240, Phoenix, AZ 85018.
