Iola Mendham died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Phelps Inncare Country House. She was 98.

Mrs. Mendham was born Oct. 24, 1914, in Wixom, Mich.

She graduated from Michigan State University in 1934, and taught Home Economics in several Michigan schools. 

Mrs. Mendham and her husband had a dairy farm in Milford, Mich., and following the sale of the farm, they moved to Land O’ Lakes and worked at Sunrise Lodge with their children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David.

Survivors include two sons, Richard (Elsie) and Don (Joann); one daughter, Susan (Duane) Heisler; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

A service was held Tuesday, Jan. 1, at Phelps Congregational Church. Burial will be in a cemetery in Lakeland, Fla.
