Three Lakes caring in time of need PDF Print E-mail

Letter to the Editor:

A friend of mine, Barb McCoy, was very moved by the story of Leanna Kossack and her fight with cancer in the Dec. 19 issue of the Vilas County News-Review.

After shedding tears over the story, she realized crying was not helping anyone. With the snow falling in our first major winter storm, Barb pulled on her boots and mittens and drove to town. With a big empty envelope and Leanna in her thoughts, Barb walked up Superior Street and down the other side, stopping at every store, restaurant, office and shop. She asked everyone for a little help for the Kossack family and their massive expenses.

Much to her surprise, everyone was more than generous, opening their wallets and checkbooks, filling up the envelope. Barb said she was so proud of her neighbors in Three Lakes; so proud to be a part of this town with the big heart. She was so happy that Three Lakes was so giving and caring.

Barb delivered the envelope to the Kossack family in Rhinelander, but said she wasn’t finished collecting and will keep it up as long as Three Lakes pitches in and helps.

Thanks Three Lakes, you’re wonderful people!
