A 1952 Eagle River High School graduate, he played three sports for the Eagles, lettering in football and basketball for three years, and baseball for two years. He was an All-Conference quarterback in 1951 and 1952, leading the Eagles to an undefeated season.
He recieved honorable mention All State and WigWam Athletic Association Little All-American honors in 1952. He was inducted into the Eagle River/Northland Pines High School Athletic Hall of Fame Sept. 9, 2005.
Following high school, he attended UW-Madison.
A veteran, he served in the U.S. Army. He married Sharon Snyder March 30, 1963, in Colona, Ill. He was employed by John Deere Plow and Planter in Moline, Ill. for 30 years, retiring Jan. 30, 1992.
He was a member of the UAW and was an avid sports fan. His hobbies included camping, fishing and hunting.
He was preceeded in death by his parents; one sister; and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Rebecca (Kenneth) Fuller of Lynn Center, Ill.; three sisters, Gladys Adamovich, Joyce Ingram and Marion Adamovich, all of Eagle River; one brother, Clyde, of Eagle River; his mother-in-law, Marjorie Snyder of East Moline, Ill.; a brother-in-law, Marion Snyder of Knoxville, Tenn.; three grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home in Alpha, Ill. Burial is in Cable Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center or the Global Hydraencephaly Foundation. Condolences may be left at petersonwallinknox.com.
