By Ken Anderson News Correspondent In a special meeting last week, the Eagle River City Council approved purchase of a new sport utility vehicle (SUV) for the police department and accepted quotes for security cameras with the costs covered by a state grant. Police Chief Mark Vander Bloomen had requested a four-wheel-drive vehicle for winter snow and ice conditions, providing quicker and safer travel compared to the department’s regular squad cars.
