Vilas County Sheriff
A total of 254 complaints were entered by Vilas County Sheriff’s Department dispatchers last week.In addition to those with sufficient detail to report below, a review shows at least 20 vehicle accidents, one animal problem, one request for agency assistance, two attempts to locate, 12 burglar alarms, one battery, nine requests for citizen assistance, one report of domestic violence, five reports of hazardous conditions, two juvenile problems/runaways, two disturbances, two reports of fraud, two reports of found property, one report of disorderly conduct, two hit-and-runs, three reports of suspicious circumstances, two thefts, 11 traffic violations, two threats, one vacation check, two welfare checks, 17 911 hang-ups, six snowmobile accidents, one chimney fire and two gas drive-offs.
At least 15 calls were referred to the Eagle River Police Department and there were at least 20 informational or procedural entries.
In the past week, at least 11 people were booked at the Vilas County Jail, including one for theft, one for failure to appear, three for operating while intoxicated, one for possession of a firearm, two for disorderly conduct, two for possession of paraphernalia, one for failure to pay and one for probation violation.
During the week, the inmate population ranged from 57 to 72. As of Feb. 18, there were 72 inmates.
Thursday, Feb. 14
- 7:11 p.m. - A two-vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of Highway 155 and Highway C in the town of Plum Lake, involving Wendy E. Kimbrell of Conover, who was cited for inattentive driving, and Kenneth G. Mickina of Star Lake.
Wednesday, Feb. 13
- 3:00 a.m. - A one-vehicle accident was reported on Highway B near North Black Oak Lake Road in Land O’ Lakes involving Joshua S. Doyen of Conover, who was cited for failure to report the accident.
- 1:57 p.m. - A one-vehicle accident was reported on Birchwood Drive near Walter Drive in the town of Cloverland involving Rosemary Geier of St. Germain.
Tuesday, Feb. 12
- 8:20 a.m. - A?three-vehicle accident was reported on Highway 45 near Big Sky Drive in the town of Washington involving James M. Mahar of Conover, who was cited for driving without insurance; Allisa J. Rudawski of Minocqua, who was cited for failure to report the accident; and Taylor F. Drake of Land O’ Lakes, who was cited for driving without insurance.
Eagle River Police
Among the calls received by Vilas County dispatchers were at least 15 calls for the Eagle River Police. These included two vehicle accidents, one request for citizen assistance, one report of criminal damage to property, one report of found property, one report of loitering, one lost person, one suspicious circumstance, one theft, one threat, one traffic violation, one instance of trespassing and two welfare checks.
Three Lakes Police
This police department reported one 911 hang-up, one recreational accident, one alarm, one request for an ambulance, one animal at large, two requests for agency assistance, one disturbance, one extra patrol, two fires, two welfare checks, two parking violations, two instances of found property, one runaway, six snowmobile violations, two suspicious circumstances, four traffic violations and four vehicles in a ditch.
