Tiffany's bill could lead to new mine

The state Senate has approved a bill, sponsored by Sen. Tom Tiffany (R-Hazelhurst), that is intended to ease iron mining regulations and boost the economy of northern Wisconsin.
The measure, which passed 17-16, will now be sent to an Assembly that is expected to pass it by a wider margin this week. Tiffany said a lot of work went in to passage of the bill.
“The Wisconsin State Senate passed Senate Bill 1 after two years of work, 11 public hearings and over 60 hours of testimony,” he said.
