|Cost of running government in Vilas County drops 15%|

The total cost of running Vilas County government by the 21 elected supervisors dropped in 2012 compared to 2011, according to figures obtained from the county finance director.
While the budget to run county government remained the same at $159,250 for each year, there was a 15% drop in costs of per diem for meetings, mileage, and other expenses in 2012 compared to 2011 as claimed by the supervisors.
The 2011 total expenses for the supervisors was $153,802 and that went down to $130,459 in 2012. Most of the decrease came from a 16% drop in the number and cost of committee meetings, going from $68,448 in 2011 down to $57,478 last year.The 2011 budget
