City to allow signs downtown

Sandwich advertising boards will be allowed in front of businesses in downtown Eagle River, but it took a rare tie-breaking vote from Mayor Jeff Hyslop after council members were deadlocked on a 2-2 vote.

While the city Plan Commission endorsed creating a Special Privilege Permit for sandwich boards in the Downtown Commercial and Highway Commercial zoning districts, council members said including the Highway Commercial district covered too large an area of the city.
