|Panel sets guidelines for obesity screening|
The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, a federal health advisory panel, recently released new guidelines recommending that clinicians screen all patients for obesity.
According to the new guidelines, if the patient has a body mass index of 30 or higher (i.e. a 5-foot-4-inch woman weighing 174 pounds) they should be referred to an “intensive, multicomponent behavioral intervention” to help them lose weight.Marshfield Clinic, which offers the program developed by
