Wisconsin Public Service files request to hike electric 7.4%, natural gas 5.6%

Wisconsin Public Service Corp. (WPS) has filed a request with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin to increase the electric rate by 7.4%?and the natural gas rate by 5.6%.

The company’s electric rates have been relatively flat for several years and gas distribution rates have actually fallen, said WPS?officials.

If approved and applied equally to all rate classes, the new rates will result in an increase of about $5.78 monthly for typical residential electric customers using approximately 600 kilowatt-hours per month.

Natural gas customers using approximately 800 therms annually
