Easement request to bury fiber optics
postponed by Vilas forestry panel

An easement request along 1.8 miles of Vilas County Forest road to bury a fiber-optic cable was postponed by the county Foresty & Land Committee last week after it was learned the county’s forest plan suggests a per-foot fee be charged for utility easements.

According to county forest Administrator Larry Stevens, the easement would be to serve one ChoiceTel customer for faster and more reliable Internet service.
