Vilas County Sheriff

A total of 276 complaints were entered by Vilas County Sheriff’s Department dispatchers last week.

In addition to those with sufficient detail to report be­low, a review shows at least 16 vehicle accidents, five requests for an ambulance, three animal problems, four batteries, two burglaries, two instances of found property, two cases of fraud, six harassment complaints, one hit-and-run, one report of littering, one report of lost property, two requests for agency assistance, one at­tempt to locate, two burglar alarms, nine requests for citizen assistance, three reports of criminal damage to property, three reports of domestic violence, 14 re­ports of hazardous conditions, one weapons offense, two disturbances, seven re­ports of suspicious circumstances, five thefts, 10 traffic violations, one threat, one vacation check, five welfare checks, 12 911 hang-ups and 13 drug problems.

At least seven calls were re­ferred to the Eagle River Police De­partment and there were at least 25 informational or procedural entries.

In the past week, at least 15 people were booked at the Vilas County Jail, including four for operating while intoxicated, two for probation violation, three for bail jumping, one for probation revocation, one for manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance, one for illegal possession of prescription medication, one for failure to appear and one for disorderly conduct.

During the week, the in­mate population ranged from 67 to 74. As of April 22, there were 72 inmates.


Friday, April 19

- 7:59 a.m. - A?two-vehicle accident was reported on Highway 51 near Highway 70 in Arbor Vitae involving Windy A. Lear of Woodruff and Barbara A. Howard of Evansville, who was cited for operating while revoked.


Eagle River Police

Among the calls received by Vilas County dispatchers were at least 21 calls for the Eagle River Police. These in­cluded three vehicle accidents, four animal problems, two batteries, one burglary, one citizen problem, one report of found property, one report of operating while intoxicated, one report of recovered property, one search warrant, three suspicious circumstances, one tobacco violation, one traffic violation and one welfare check.


Three Lakes Police

This police department re­ported one abandoned vehicle, one vehicle accident, one request for citizen assistance, one bomb squad call, one civil matter, one instance of disorderly conduct, one fire, one harassment complaint, eight house checks, two informational reports, one parking violation, two warrant pickups, two services, two suspicious circumstances, one theft and 10 traffic stops.
