|Vilas sheriff warns of new phone scams|
Area residents are being warned of apparent phone scams being carried out in the North Woods recently, according to the Vilas County Sheriff’s Department.
Chief Deputy Joseph Fath said the sheriff’s department got several reports Sunday from area residents who received automated phone calls in reference to their credit card or debit card accounts being frozen due to online orders.“In this message was included a number to call in order to unlock your card,” said Fath.
