Kerry Lee Thomas died April 15, 2013, at home in Sayner. He was 47 years old.

He had been a lifelong resident of Sayner.

He graduated Northland Pines High School with honors in 1983. He further attended Devry Technical School near Chicago, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

He was a political analyst and loved to give his opinion on any given topic, as evidenced by the many Letters to the Editor in the local papers.

He worked for a time at Plum Lake Golf Course, but had to change his life ambitions because of health concerns. He had a successful kidney and pancreas transplant in 1991, at University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison.

Kerry was involved with the Plum Ski-Ters water-ski club on Plum Lake, the Plum Lake library in Sayner, the Plum Lake Volunteer Fire Department and the Plum Lake EMS Service, and served on the board of the Vilas County Historical Museum in Sayner. He did service for these organizations by writing grants for them.

Kerry loved to travel and visited Walt Disney World in Orlando many times.

He was very patriotic and the Fourth of July was his favorite holiday. When family gathered, he was always ready to play Scrabble or Monopoly.

He was a huge John Wayne fan and enjoyed “M*A*S*H,” and was interested in old classic movies.

Kerry is survived by his mother, Linda; sister, Patty (Mike) Mulé of Thornton, Colo.; a brother, Danny of St. Germain; many aunts and uncles, Judy Thomas of Sayner, Jim and Bonnie Thomas of Sayner, Floyd and Eileen Thomas of Lakeville, Minn., and Lorraine Medes of Altoona, Wis. Also his cousins Vicki (Tim) Layer of Lakeville, Minn., Steve (Kelly) Thomas of Rockland, Texas, Marie Medes of Hudson, Wis., Mike Medes of Woodstock, Ga., Lucas (Lauren) Thomas of Ketchum, Idaho, and Justen Thomas of Washington, D.C.; five nephews that he liked to teach nature facts to, Mason, Karson and Marshall Thomas of St. Germain, and Aidan and Brody Mulé of Thornton, Colo.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Violet Thomas, Martha Froelich, Bill and Irene Kazda, all of Sayner; and uncles, Harlan Medes and Gale Thomas.

A memorial celebration of life will be held in the spring.
