Students create ads for businesses PDF Print E-mail

Seventeen students from  Mark Deditz’s fourth-grade class at St. Germain Elementary School participated in the Vilas County News-Review’s Kids Design An Ad 2013 program.

Students from seven elementary schools submitted hand-drawn ads for either an assigned or chosen business.

The award for best ad from St. Germain Elementary School went to Colby Kruse. He received a $25 check for his artwork which featured the text, “Wolf Pack Cafe, You’ll be howling for more.”

Ad representative Kathlyn Ogden presented the check to Kruse as well as copies of the supplement which the students opened and scanned for their artwork.

Deditz told the class, “Look through the supplement to see if your friends from other schools had their ads selected and then tell them that they did a good job. Be sure to thank the business owners you see in here because they had to buy these ads as a way of supporting our school.

“This project gave the kids a chance to see a real connection between their work in school and the community in which they live,” said Deditz.

On hand for the presentation was St. Germain Elementary School Principal Gayle Daniel.

Other schools participat ing in the program were Christ Lutheran School, Northland Pines elementary schools in Eagle River and Land O’ Lakes, as well as Phelps, Sugar Camp and Three Lakes elementary schools.
