Jays drop first NLC game of delayed baseball season

The Three Lakes Bluejays baseball team led off its Northern Lakes Conference (NLC) schedule last Thursday with an 18-4 loss to the Crandon Cardinals in cold, wet conditions.

The Cardinals are the defending champions in the NLC and are the favorites to take the title this season, according to Three Lakes coach Jeff Liebscher.

“We had to come out and play good ball in order to beat them, but this just didn’t happen,” he said. “I know we are just as talented as they are, but in the game of baseball, you need every player focused on the game.”

The Jays’ pitching and defense ultimately is what let them down,
