Ruth Wolfe-Ellis, age 94, a lifelong resident of Eagle River, Wis., died on May 18, 2013, at the Inncare Country House in Phelps, Wis.
Ruth was born on Jan. 11, 1919, to Louis and Freida (née Fawcett) Zimpelmann.
She was elected as Vilas County Clerk of Circuit Court in the fall of 1952, until her retirement in 1980. She was elected to 14 consecutive terms.Ruth enjoyed gardening and crafting in her free time.
She was a lifelong member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle River.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Vern, in 1950; her parents; brothers, Everett and Lewis; sisters, Elinore, Myra and Janet; and sister-in-law, Grace Rinderknecht.
She is survived by her husband, George Ellis Sr. of Eagle River; daughter, Kristine (Wayne Haney) Wolfe-Haney of Hillsdale, Mich., and Woodbridge, Va.; nieces and nephews, Jerry Zimpelmann, Paul Zimpelmann, Michele (Dennis) Fawcett, Gail Barilka, Lew Zimpelmann, Candy Winkel, Ruth Pudlo, Mark McKeel and Kimberly McKeel; other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held in July 2013.
