Eagles top Newman in girls GNC soccer

The Northland Pines girls soccer team defeated Wausau Newman 3-0 in a Great Northern Conference (GNC) game last Thursday in the only game of the week for the Eagles.

Pines got on the board first with a 20-yard shot from junior Kailyn Hogenmiller.  The ball sailed high, looking like it was going over the cross bar, but dropped into the back of the net in the first 15 minutes of the game.

“We did a great job transitioning the ball up the field from the midfield to the forwards to mount more of an attack than our previous games,” said Pines coach Wendy McCormack. “The girls took what we worked on in practice and put it into play in the game.”
