Irene Dickman dies at 106 PDF Print E-mail

Irene Marie Dickman, a pioneer of the North Woods and a longtime resident of Land O’ Lakes, died Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Rennes Rehab­ilitation Center in Rhine­­lander. She was 106.

Mrs. Dickman was born Feb. 11, 1907, in Ludington, Mich., the daughter of Peter and Charlotte Allard. She married Walter Dickman in 1925 and he preceded her in death in 1973.

Mrs. Dickman enjoyed her family, knitting, gardening and caring for her pets. She was an Elder and the oldest living tribal member of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians in Manistee, Mich.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Albert Allard; and two grandsons.

Mrs. Dickman is survived by two daughters, Ruth (the late Chuck) Garretson and Carolyn (Ken) Ashby; two sons, Bob (the late Barbara) and Jerry (Cora); and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren.

Services will be at St. Albert’s Church in Land O’ Lakes Wednesday, May 29, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Land O’ Lakes. Condolences may be expressed online at gaffney-busha.com.

Memorials may be made at the local Humane Society or to the American Heart Association.
