Walleyes starting to hit in new green weeds

The annoying cold fronts that have been the dominant story of this spring are not as common now. The water temperatures are now firmly in the 60s by the afternoon and some lakes are in the 70s in the bays. This is great for the crappie spawn.

Water levels are starting out higher than last year, and more rain will help the drainage lakes achieve some better levels. The Rainbow Flowage is fuller than it has been for several years.

Be ready for the bugs. As it gets warmer they will be out in force with the wetter weather. Ticks are already here, so check your skin out in the evenings if you have been in the woods or doing yard work.

Walleye fishing has been pretty good,
