Warren “Butch” Saxinger, a resident of Phelps, Wis., passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2013.
Butch was born on Aug. 1, 1937, in Chicago, Ill., but retired to the North Woods in 1998, where he had spent a lifetime of summers and weekends.
Butch is survived by his three children, Donald, Lisa and James; and four grandchildren, Lauren, James, Nicholas and Alexandria.
He also is survived by his brothers, Richard and Ronald; his sister, Darlene; and his first wife of 11 years, Shirley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Frieda; his brother, Max; and his second wife, Roberta.
Butch loved cooking and always commanded the kitchen at Thanksgiving. He also enjoyed helping people.
In retirement, he was a well-known volunteer at the Land O’ Lakes Food Pantry and helped to care for many of the vacation homes in the area.
In his youth, Butch loved to hunt and fish, but in retirement he enjoyed feeding and watching the wildlife.
Butch was cremated May 25, 2013, followed by a private ceremony. The family plans to hold a memorial in the Chicago area on a future date.
