Vilas panel hears report on two hazardous spills
By Ken Anderson
News Correspondent

Two recent hazardous material spills in Vilas County were reviewed by the Vilas County Law Enforcement Committee last week, with county emergency government director Jim Galloway describing the incidents.
“The first one was near the intersection of Highway 51 and Highway H involving a tanker carrying 4,000 gallons of fuel, and a private vehicle,” Galloway said. “The fuel tanker did not rupture, but its saddle tanks leaked and required cleanup.”
Galloway praised the Vilas County Sheriff’s Department, First Responders and county highway workers for their actions at the scene. Chief Deputy Joe Fath said the department would present commendations to those involved.
