Zoning Office seeks extra employee as permit inquiries, inspections climb
By Ken Anderson
News Correspondent

Adding an employee to the Vilas County Zoning Office to handle office inquiries on permits, either by phone or in person, was rejected by the Vilas County Personnel Committee last week.
But the committee directed Zoning Administrator Dawn Schmidt to discuss alternative solutions with the human resources office  and bring a recommendation back to the committee.
Schmidt said the employee would provide information on zoning districts, shoreland alterations, nonconforming structures and a wide range of questions from landowners seeking zoning permits.
