Herman Schwarze, a resident of Three Lakes since 1976, formerly of Racine, died Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at the Golden Age Nursing Home in Tomahawk. He was 81.
Mr. Schwarze was born Feb. 3, 1932, in Williamstown to Herman and Alice Schwarze.
He married his wife, Rhoda, April 7, 1962, in Racine.
Herman served in the U.S. Navy from 1952-’56, and transferred to the Naval Reserve in 1960. He also served in the Army National Guard from 1981-’92.He owned and operated Nicolet builders in Three Lakes from 1976 through the mid-1980s. He also worked as a custodian at the Eagle River post office and was a member of the Christian Businessman’s Association.
His interests included gardening, reading and nature.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Ralph.
Survivors include his wife, Rhoda, of Three Lakes; children, Randi (J.R.) Gonzales of Tucson, Ariz., Jena (Richard Busche) Garstecki of Mountain Home, Ark., Mathew (Val) Schrubbe of Mayville, and Stacy of Milwaukee; brothers and sisters, Eunice of Madison, David of Wautoma and Art (Jeannie) of Lexington, Neb.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Monday, June 10, at Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home in Eagle River.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Alzheimer’s research are appreciated by the family.
