Town board moves forward with Awassa negotiations

The St. Germain Town Board voted at its June 10 meeting to go on record supporting the town’s negotiation for purchasing property from Integris Corp.

The vote clears the way for more substantive negotiations with the corporation, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and electors of the town at a later date.

Integris Corp., owners of Wisconsin Public Service (WPS), have contacted the town about the Awassa Lodge property which is located in the town of St. Germain and has been used for hiking trails and snowmobile trails.

Town Chairman Walter Camp reported, “The corporation is ceasing operation of the lodge which has been open since the 1920s. Integris would like the town to have the first right of refusal on purchasing
