|Vilas receives bids for custodial work, maintenance duties|

Bids to provide custodial work and maintenance for Vilas county buildings were opened but not awarded last week by the county Public Property Committee.
When the county implemented its work reduction program last December, experienced staff in the maintenance department retired, leaving the department short-handed. A decision was then made to contract with outside janitorial firms to do the work.
Three firms submitted bids ranging from $97,000 to more than $300,000, with a breakdown between general custodial cleaning and maintenance costs for such things as the heating, ventilating and air conditioning system.Victory Janitorial limited its bid to custodial
