Frank Tomlano­vich,  a lifelong resident of Eagle River, died Thursday, June 20, 2013, at his home. He was 61.

Mr. Tomlanovich was born Jan. 28, 1952, in Janesville, to Frank and Stephanie Tomlanovich.

He was a long-time police officer, starting his career with the Eagle River Police Department and attaining the rank of detective with the Vilas County Sheriff’s Department. He was elected Vilas County sheriff in 2010.

He was a member of the Badger State Sheriff’s Association and Wisconsin Sheriffs and Deputy Sheriffs Association.

Mr. Tomlanovich was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his wife, Julie, of Eagle River; his mother; his daughter, Cristi Rosinski of Eagle River; sons, Eric of Eagle River, Chad (Sheryl) Rosinski of Conover  and Shane Rosinski of Owens; brother, James David of Merrill; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service was  held Monday, June 24, in the Northland Pines High School auditorium.

A memorial will be established in Mr. Tomlanovich’s name.
