Mary Jane Mayo passed away Friday, June 28, 2013, at Ministry Eagle River Memorial Hospital in Eagle River. She was 89 years old.

Born June 14, 1924, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Otto P. and Viola (Seeger) Krause. She moved to Eagle River as a small child. She married Joseph Mayo June 14, 1947. They were married 66 years.

She was a housewife until later in her life when she got to travel across the United States with Joe when he was driving truck. She got to see a lot of the country and interesting places.

After that she worked at Seifert’s Laundry until she retired at age 80. Her family meant everything to her. She loved cooking and baking. Her chocolate chip cookies were a favorite with young and old.

She loved Branson, Mo., for all the musical shows and traveling to visit family members. If you stopped in to visit her on Sunday morning, you would be listening to polka music. She will be sadly missed.

Survived by husband Jo­eph of Eagle River; daughters, Barbara (Bill) Leveille and Linda (Ron) Small, all of Eagle River; four grandchildren, Joseph (Chris) Leveille of Headrick, Okla., Kim (Mike) Brown of Eagle River, Kurt (Shannon) Leveille of Duncan, Okla., and Kari Schmitzer of Neenah; seven great-grandchildren, Lacy Jo Leveille, Kaylee and Ryan Brown, Madison and Mackenzie Leveille, Trevor Horneck and Alex Schmitzer; sister-in-law Jane Sulstrom of Acton, Calif., and many other relatives.

Preceded in death by her parents, Otto P. and Viola, brother and sister-in-law James and Genevieve Krause, grandson James Leveille, brothers-in-law/sisters-in-law Ernest Sulstrom, Bob and Rose Mayo, Jerry and Sue Weyecker, James Mayo and Penny Mayo.

A graveside service will be held Friday, July 5, at 10 a.m. at the Eagle River Cemetery.
