Vilas offered several parcels near forest block
By Ken Anderson
News Correspondent

Several parcels of land offered for sale to Vilas County that would help block in county forest holdings or provide access to land-locked areas will be pursued as a result of action by the county Forestry, Recreation & Land Committee last week.

The state Board of Commissioners of Public Lands (BCPL) is looking to sell 40 acres in the town of Conover that has frontage on Denton Lake and is used as a snowmobile route. BCPL real estate agent Terry Hess indicated they are offering the property first to Vilas County since it borders the county forest, but if the county didn’t show interest BCPL would put it up for auction.
