Vilas County Sheriff

A total of 376 complaints were entered by Vilas County Sheriff’s Department dispatchers last week.

The department reported at least 19 vehicle accidents, nine requests for an ambulance, five animal problems, four requests for agency assistance, eight burglar alarms, three burglaries, nine requests for citizen assistance, four batteries, one report of disorderly conduct, two domestic violence complaints, four fireworks complaints, one fire, one littering complaint, five instances of found property, one case of fraud, one harassment complaint, two hit-and-runs, five reports of lost property, three threats, two weapons offenses,

seven re­ports of hazardous conditions, six juvenile problems/runaways, nine disturbances, 11 reports of suspicious circumstances, four thefts, 11 traffic violations, two vacation checks, nine welfare checks, 24 911 hang-ups, two reports of operating while intoxicated and eight drug problems.


At least 16 calls were re­ferred to the Eagle River Police De­partment and there were at least 29 informational or procedural entries.

In the past week, at least four people were booked at the Vilas County Jail, including one for operating after revocation and three for possession of drug paraphernalia

During the week, the in­mate population ranged from 67 to 76. As of July 15, there were 76 inmates.


Eagle River Police

Among the calls received by Vilas County dispatchers were at least 42 calls for the Eagle River Police. These in­cluded five 911 hang-ups, two vehicle accidents, one request for agency assistance, one burglar alarm, two requests for an ambulance, one animal problem, one attempt to locate, one battery, one attempted burglary, five requests for citizen assistance, one domestic violence complaint, two reports of found property, one loitering complaint, one instance of lost property, one noise complaint, one report of operating while intoxicated, one report of smoke, one suicide attempt, five suspicious circumstances, two thefts, two hazards, one traffic violation and three welfare checks.


Three Lakes Police

This police department re­ported two alarms, one request for an ambulance, two requests for officer assistance, two animals at large, one request for agency assistance, three ATV/dirt-bike violations, one barking dog, seven boating violations, one fireworks complaint, six hazards, 24 house checks, three informational reports, one mental commitment, one noise complaint, two reports of operating while intoxicated, one parking ticket, one instance of found property, one instance of reckless driving, two services, six suspicious circumstances, four thefts and 14 traffic stops.
