|Vilas considers outsourcing work; could mean firings|
By Ken Anderson
The Vilas County Public Property Committee looked at proposals last week to privatize all custodial and maintenance work at the courthouse and outlying facilities, but some workers could be fired, supervisors learned.
Responding to the backlash that three current employees would have to be fired, Supervisor Gary Peske asked for further information on the hourly charges from vendors who submitted bids for 40 hours per week of maintenance work and 40 hours per week of custodial work with the understanding the current staff would be retained.A 4-0 vote on Peske’s motion
