Phil Brandner of Eagle River died Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Rennes Health and Rehab Center of Rhinelander. He was 92.
Mr. Brandner was born April 11, 1921, in Elcho to parents Arthur and Madge Brandner.
He owned and operated Brandner’s Market & Grocery on Railroad Street. It was family owned from 1928 to 1991, previously operated by his father, Art.Mr. Brandner served as an alderman on the Eagle River City Council, as well as the county board and the town of Washington board.
He was a member of the Eagle River Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Brandner served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jean Zache.
Survivors include his wife, Irma; son, Dr. Richard (Ann) Brandner of Eagle River; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held July 19 at Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home in Eagle River.
