Food preservation classes offered at Vilas courthouse

Vilas County UW-Extension announced it will offer a series of free lunchtime learning opportunities on summertime canning and food preservation based on up-to-date research-tested information.

Each one-hour program will be an opportunity to listen, learn, and ask questions of experts in the field:

•Aug. 5, “Time to Make Pickles,” participants learn how to make safe, high quality quick-pack pickles. Genuine dills and sauerkraut will also be discussed.

•Aug. 19, “Drying Foods at Home,” attendees will learn
