Anglers split on 25-fish bag limit, according to DNR panfish survey

Anglers are evenly split on whether to keep the current statewide bag limit of 25 panfish per day and differ significantly on whether they prefer catching fewer but bigger panfish or more but smaller fish, according to recent results from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) online and in-person surveys.

Some of the survey results included:

•?38% of the nearly 3,500 respondents said they were satisfied with the number of panfish they caught on a typical fishing trip and 40%  said it was adequate.

•?An equal proportion of anglers (about 47%) said the statewide limit of panfish should be kept at 25 per day and said the daily bag limit should “probably” or “definitely” be decreased.
