Eagle River will host the 97th annual Vilas County Fair this Thursday through Sunday, Aug. 8-11, at the fairgrounds located just off Highway 70 near Sundstein Road.
The sounding of a Civil War cannon Thursday evening will signal the start of an event that has supplied area families with an abundance of activities since its inauguration in 1916.
Among the highlights will be Calkins Midways with rides, wristband specials Thursday and Sunday, and a variety of contests for children and adults.
“Join us for our first annual truck pull Saturday at 2 p.m. at our new track west of the midway,” said an event spokesperson. “Participants and spectators are both welcome.”
