Bess Pesek Elias was born in Chicago, Ill., on May 11, 1915, and passed away on July 28, 2013, at Milestone Assisted Living in Eagle River, Wis. Her nephew and longtime caregiver, Chuck Pesek, was at her side.
Bess began her 55-year career at Material Service in Chicago in 1935, and simultaneously worked for the Henry Crown Co. She enjoyed her tenure and was a dedicated and trusted employee who created many enduring friendships.Bess, an accomplished singer, performed in Bohemian Opera in Chicago and on WGN Radio. She loved the Chicago Cubs and spent her life waiting for them to win the World Series.
After retirement at 75, she traveled extensively with her dear friend, Pat Trotter, of Sheboygan, Wis.
Henry (Hank) Elias and Bess enjoyed an 18-year marriage before Henry died in 1963. Bess said she hoped, above all things, that they would be reunited upon her death.
In 2003, Bess moved to Watersmeet, Mich., to her home on Poor Lake, just down the street from Chuck and Cindy.
She made new friends, went to sewing club, attended Ely Memorial Church, supported the Chain Skimmers Waterski Team of Conover and the Bright Side Program in Watersmeet.
Bess lived a life of courage and dignity. She will be missed.
