Vilas County Sheriff

A total of 340 complaints were entered by Vilas County Sheriff’s Department dispatchers last week.

The department reported at least 12 vehicle accidents, four requests for an ambulance, seven animal problems, three requests for agency assistance, four burglar alarms, 10 requests for citizen assistance, one battery, two reports of disorderly conduct, three fireworks complaints, four instances of found property, three cases of fraud, two harassment complaints, one hit-and-run, one report of lost property, two threats, one weapons offense, 11 re­ports of hazardous conditions, three juvenile problems/runaways, 10 disturbances, 17 reports of suspicious circumstances, nine thefts, 17 traffic violations, two threats, three welfare checks, 13 911 hang-ups, four reports of operating while intoxicated, five drug problems and two ATV problems.

At least 24 calls were re­ferred to the Eagle River Police De­partment and there were at least 19 informational or procedural entries.

In the past week, at least four people were booked at the Vilas County Jail, including one for retail theft, one for operating while intoxicated, one for disorderly conduct and one hit-and-run.

During the week, the in­mate population ranged from 71 to 80. As of July 8, there were 80 inmates.


Sunday, Aug. 18

- 3:11 a.m. - A?one-vehicle accident was reported on Highway W near W. Birch Lake Road involving Mat­thew M. Goetz of Greenfield who was cited for driving under the influence.


Eagle River Police

Among the calls received by Vilas County dispatchers were at least 42 calls for the Eagle River Police. These in­cluded two vehicle accidents, two burglar alarms, three ambulance requests, one dog bite, one animal problem, three burglaries, two re­quests for citizen assistance, five reports of criminal damage to property, one death investigation, one domestic violence complaint, one es­cort, three reports of found property, two drive-offs, one jail medical incident, one parking problem, two vacation checks, one request for officer assistance, two suspicious circumstances, two thefts, one traffic violation, one unsecure premise and one welfare check.


Three Lakes Police

This police department re­ported one 911 misdial, four vehicle accidents, one request for officer assistance, two requests for agency assistance, one ATV/dirt bike violation, one barking dog, 11 boating violations, 31 business checks, three disturbances, one report of fighting, one gas drive-off, one threat, 10 hazards, 19 house checks, one report of illegal dumping, three informational reports, one report of littering, one noise complaint, one report of lost property, one report of reckless driving, two scams, one service, three suspicious circumstances and six traffic stops.
