Vilas considers dispatch tower

The Vilas County Communications Committee is recommending the county board authorize searching for a site in the Land O’ Lakes area for a new county-owned dispatch tower capable of rental space for other providers.

The county has a lease to use the WERL/WRJO tower, but it is not capable of having a microwave dish on it and the lease will expire in November 2014. The present cost of the lease is expected to increase substantially with the new owners of the station, Heartland Communication Group.
